The first
entertainment part of the camp is expressed in more detail in the
Lake Robert page. The lake is where most
of the swimming goes on. Other summer possibilities are canoeing,
fishing, and zipline. During the winter, there is the possibility of
ice games, such as skating, hockey, and dodgeball.
Running across the lake is the zipline. It is a cable with a pulley and a bar which allows people to ride out over the water and drop into the deeper areas of the lake. This ride is moderately safe and should not be used during the winter. Another popular part of the lake is the rope swing. The rope swing is your average rope swing, but it is tied to a tree that is at a corner of the lake. Instead of swinging straight out, the kids can run in a circle and either land on the other shore or drop out into the water. Older age groups have the choice of swinging all the way around to the other shore, or dropping off into the water. Younger kids, on the other hand, should drop off into the water. Due to safety issues, this may or may not be allowed. Another activity, which is not pictured, is the challenge course. It is currently in need of reconstruction. This course has all kinds of object lessons which pushes a team to rely on each other to perform physical or mental tasks. If used correctly, the challenge course is a strong tool used to bring out who people really are and how they fit into a group. On top of the hill, behind the dining hall, is the campfire. This is where the group can get together, roast hotdogs, share life lessons, and sing songs. There is a firewood storage nearby for quick fire building. There are many logs in a circle around the fire pit to allow for slightly uncomfortable, but rustic seating conditions. Down the hill, and back behind the brown house is a dirt wall cut out of the hill. This wall is used for archery and riflery. It is a large area. It is not pictured. There is also an old outdoor basketball hoop. The cement is cracked and the lines are fading, but its better than nothing. The basketball hoop in the dining hall is usually preferred by the common baller. If that hoop is in use, this court is a nice backup. Last, but not least, there is a gameroom. To get more details on this, please check out the Gameroom page. This room is used for different multiplayer games such as pool, foosball, ping pong, carpetball, and board games. There is potential for more, but this is all the camp owns at this point in time. This room is part of the dining hall. There are other parts of the gameroom. Attached to the main gaming area is a concession stand which will be used during canteen. Upstairs, there is three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a queen-sized bedroom, and a general meeting area. |
